On the side of love are Sir Integra Wingate Hellsing, the titular heroine of the series, a no-nonsense, hard-as-nails woman whom singlehandedly runs an organization devoted to keeping England free of freaks and monsters, and her primary servant, Alucard. I suppose I have a love-hate relationship with Hellsing, and for two very obvious reasons. I read the first eight volumes of this some time back-between one and four years ago-and the other day I noticed that volumes nine and ten were available, picked them up, and concluded the series. But the manga certainly stands distinct and is worth a full read. They are usually released every 2-4 years. The OVAs certainly do it justice, for Hellsing fans who are, by loyalty, patient. But I had many interesting nights on wikipedia thanks to Hellsing, from pages of the occult to Schrodinger's cat. True Dracula fans will fangasm at the beautifully illustrated nods to Stoker's original story. The storyline is incredibly researched for being so farfetched. What I would expect from a vulgar, ero-mangaka otaku like Hirano. And not to mention absolutely crass-tastic. The art style is so unique for manga, so gritty and mecha while still being so sensual and raw. So when I realized that the manga followed a completely different storyline after the first book, I was devouring the chapters online. After the character designs of the tv show, the art in the first volume made me nervous, but not nearly as much as I was dissatisfied by the ending of the tv anime. I read the first volume and then watched the original anime. Plotting to plunge England, and perhaps the entire world, into war.The plague of my high school grades.
A group long thought dead has been plotting in secret since their apparent destruction over 50 years ago. Unfortunately, the cause is more alarming than anything she could have imagined. Integra Hellsing, the current leader, is usually fully capable of fulfilling her duty, but lately, vampire activity has been on the rise. Although reluctant to embrace her new self, she is still a valuable member of the organization. Seras is a fledgling vampire and a former police woman. Although he dislikes being a servant to the Hellsing family, he certainly enjoys his job as Hellsing’s vampire exterminator. Alucard, an incredibly powerful vampire, has been controlled by Hellsing for years. Along with its own personal army, Hellsing also has a few secret weapons. It is the duty of Hellsing, an organization sponsored by the British government, to hide that frightening fact and protect the blissfully unaware populace.
